1. Scope and Incorporation
These Hardware Warranty and Connected Device Terms (“Hardware Terms”) govern Storefront-branded or Storefront-supplied signs, cameras, microphones, sensors, hubs, gateways, mounts, cables, power supplies, accessories, replacement units, firmware, and other physical equipment provided by Storefront Labs, LLC (“Storefront”).
These Hardware Terms supplement the applicable Order and Storefront Terms of Use. If there is a direct conflict, the Order controls for the specific hardware and transaction identified in that Order.
2. Ownership and Title
Unless an Order states that hardware is sold to Customer, all hardware remains Storefront’s property and is licensed, leased, loaned, or provided for use during the applicable service term.
For Storefront-owned equipment, Customer acquires no ownership interest and may not sell, pledge, lease, transfer, encumber, or dispose of the equipment.
For hardware sold to Customer, title passes only after full payment, subject to Storefront’s rights in embedded software, firmware, trademarks, documentation, and intellectual property.
3. Delivery and Risk of Loss
Delivery dates are estimates unless an Order expressly states otherwise. Storefront is not responsible for carrier delay, customs delay, supply-chain disruption, weather, labor disputes, or other events outside Storefront’s reasonable control.
Risk of loss transfers to Customer upon delivery to the shipping address for sold hardware. For Storefront-owned hardware, Customer bears risk of loss, theft, or damage while the equipment is in Customer’s possession or control, except for ordinary wear or defects covered by warranty.
4. Installation and Environment
Customer is responsible for installation unless Storefront expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
Customer must:
- install hardware in a safe, secure, code-compliant, and manufacturer-approved manner;
- use appropriate mounts, fasteners, enclosures, power supplies, and environmental protection;
- maintain adequate power, ventilation, temperature, humidity, lighting, and network conditions;
- protect equipment from water, impact, vandalism, pests, corrosion, heat, chemicals, and electrical irregularities;
- comply with building, electrical, fire, accessibility, workplace, privacy, surveillance, and public-accommodation requirements; and
- obtain landlord, owner, regulatory, or other required approvals.
5. Connectivity and Dependencies
Hardware may depend on power, batteries, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular service, GPS, NFC, UWB, local networks, internet connectivity, cloud services, mobile devices, third-party services, and compatible equipment.
Performance may be affected by interference, signal strength, local network configuration, firewalls, carrier coverage, power quality, physical obstructions, weather, device placement, firmware, and third-party outages.
6. Firmware and Remote Updates
Customer authorizes Storefront to remotely install firmware, software, security, configuration, diagnostics, and feature updates reasonably necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or support Storefront hardware.
Updates may add, remove, modify, reset, or replace functionality, settings, interfaces, protocols, integrations, or third-party components.
Customer must not block required updates or operate unsupported firmware where doing so creates security, compatibility, reliability, or legal risk.
7. Limited Hardware Warranty
Unless an Order states otherwise, Storefront warrants to the original Customer that Storefront-branded hardware will be materially free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal authorized use for twelve months from the original delivery date.
This warranty applies only to hardware supplied directly by Storefront and used in accordance with documentation, environmental requirements, and these Hardware Terms.
The warranty does not guarantee uninterrupted operation, cosmetic perfection, or compatibility with every third-party product, network, platform, or environment.
8. Warranty Exclusions
The limited warranty does not cover:
- normal wear, cosmetic damage, discoloration, scratches, or ordinary deterioration;
- consumables, batteries, bulbs, adhesives, seals, mounts, cables, or accessories unless expressly included;
- damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, accident, theft, vandalism, liquid, fire, weather, pests, corrosion, impact, or improper storage;
- improper installation, relocation, maintenance, wiring, power, grounding, ventilation, or environmental conditions;
- unauthorized repair, modification, disassembly, firmware, accessories, or third-party components;
- failure caused by customer networks, routers, internet service, carriers, cloud providers, integrations, or third-party platforms;
- use outside documented specifications, supported countries, or intended purposes;
- serial-number removal or alteration;
- damage occurring after unauthorized transfer or resale;
- beta, prototype, evaluation, proof-of-concept, or pre-release equipment; or
- problems that cannot be reproduced or are caused by software, configuration, data, or external services rather than hardware defects.
9. Warranty Claim Process
To submit a claim, Customer must contact hello@storefrontworks.com during the warranty period and provide:
- Customer name, account identifier, and shipping address;
- device model, serial number, and delivery date;
- a detailed description of the issue;
- photos, video, diagnostic logs, error messages, and troubleshooting results where available;
- proof of purchase or applicable Order; and
- any additional information reasonably requested by Storefront.
Customer must cooperate with remote diagnostics and complete reasonable troubleshooting before Storefront authorizes return or replacement.
10. Warranty Remedies
If Storefront confirms a covered defect, Storefront will replace the affected hardware with the same or functionally equivalent equipment.
Replacement is Customer’s sole and exclusive remedy for breach of the limited hardware warranty.
11. Returns and Replacement Equipment
Customer may not return hardware without a return authorization from Storefront.
For an approved warranty claim, Customer must package the defective unit securely and return it using Storefront’s instructions and prepaid shipping label.
Storefront will ship the replacement after receiving and inspecting the defective unit.
Replacement hardware may be new or refurbished and inherits the longer of the remaining original warranty period or ninety days.
12. Customer Care and Maintenance
Customer must:
- inspect equipment periodically for damage, loose mounts, heat, moisture, corrosion, or tampering;
- keep equipment clean using approved methods;
- replace consumable batteries and accessories as needed;
- maintain supported firmware and application versions;
- protect equipment during construction, renovation, cleaning, painting, pest control, and severe weather;
- follow shutdown, reset, relocation, and storage instructions; and
- promptly stop using hardware that appears unsafe, damaged, overheated, swollen, wet, or compromised.
13. Security and Tampering
Customer must physically secure devices and prevent unauthorized access to ports, credentials, reset controls, removable media, firmware, enclosures, and local networks.
Customer must promptly report suspected theft, tampering, credential exposure, unauthorized firmware, device compromise, or unusual behavior.
Storefront may disable, quarantine, reset, or restrict compromised hardware where reasonably necessary to protect systems, customers, or third parties.
14. Cameras, Audio, and Privacy
If hardware includes or connects to cameras, microphones, audio, sensors, occupancy detection, headcount, location, or customer-tracking functionality, Customer is solely responsible for lawful placement and use.
Customer must provide required notices, signage, privacy disclosures, consent, access controls, retention limits, and responses to individual rights requests.
Storefront does not determine whether Customer’s recording, monitoring, publishing, or analytics use is lawful in a particular jurisdiction.
15. Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Customer is responsible for ensuring that installation and use comply with applicable safety, electrical, radio-frequency, accessibility, workplace, building, fire, environmental, recycling, surveillance, and public-accommodation requirements.
Customer must not use Storefront hardware for emergency dispatch, life support, alarm monitoring, medical devices, critical infrastructure control, or other safety-critical purposes unless Storefront expressly agrees in a signed writing.
16. Third-Party Equipment
Third-party equipment, accessories, routers, cameras, power supplies, mounts, displays, or peripherals are governed by the third party’s warranties and terms.
Storefront does not warrant third-party products or compatibility, even if Storefront recommends, resells, integrates, or helps configure them.
17. Additional Disclaimers
Except for the express limited warranty above and to the fullest extent permitted by law, hardware, firmware, accessories, replacements, and related support are provided “as is” and “as available.” Storefront disclaims all implied and statutory warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, noninfringement, accuracy, availability, compatibility, durability, and quiet enjoyment.
Storefront does not warrant uninterrupted operation, prevention of theft or intrusion, preservation of recordings, successful communication, compatibility with every environment, or that hardware will meet Customer’s legal or operational requirements.
18. Limitation of Liability
Liability arising from hardware is subject to the limitations, exclusions, claims period, arbitration, and other risk allocations in the applicable Storefront Agreement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Storefront is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages; lost profits, data, recordings, business, goodwill, or opportunity; or damage caused by installation, local power, networks, third-party equipment, customer misuse, or environmental conditions.
19. Changes to These Terms
Storefront may update these Hardware Terms prospectively as products, suppliers, warranty programs, technology, and legal requirements evolve. The current version will be identified by its effective date.
